The Galway Apprentice Handicap of €10,000 Of which the second will receive €2,000, the third €1,000, the fourth €500 and the fifth €250 An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (75 = 10st) About one mile, four furlongs and 46 yds €80 to enter, €20 extra if declared to run Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won. Riders: Open to all Apprentices who are apprenticed to trainers in Ireland only. Allowances (up to and including 2nd September and which are not cumulative) Apprentices who have not ridden three *winners allowed 7lb Those who have not ridden twenty *winners races allowed 4lb Those who have not ridden thirty *winners allowed 2lb *Including races under any N.H. Rules Horses which receive a published weight of 8st 3lb or less will be entitled to a 50% reduction in entry fee. Should they be declared to run they will then become liable for the full amount of the cost to run.
